This is my girlfriend’s Dad (though I am writing this from her account), John is an experienced and keen cyclist who often rides the roads around the Cawood area.
Police are treating this as a potential hit and run, due to the severity of his injuries, and suggest that he may have been hit from behind. Unfortunately there are no witnesses.
From his bike computer, and the time of day, we think he was heading home from his ride, so possibly heading south on the B1222, before Cawood bridge.
Both myself and my girlfriend are London-based cyclists, and obviously this is a London-based forum in general, but I was hoping that some people here might know people who cycle in that area, or might know someone who knows someone...
Information about any vehicles seen driving erratically or dangerously in that area, even if not particularly close to the site of the incident, would be useful. Please go directly to the police if you know anything. martin.hayes@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
John is still in intensive care, but we have our fingers crossed.
