A bit too much posturing and show-boating à la Chris Snr, but he looked alright.

He's looked better. Limited, smaller opponent with no desire to win and no punch, made him look lazy and short on ideas.

He didn't have the boxing ability to beat Alvarado in a battle of skill. But credit to rios he took some good punches and never looked like being stopped and only his first fight at 140 (only ever seen him once before at 135). Rematch? A confident rios after a win and a more concentrated Alvarado maybe.

Last fights at 135, he was having difficulty making weight. He's a big kid for 140 because he often balloons up.

Rematch would be good, but looks like 2013, him vs Pacquaio or Juan manuel marquez winner. (Same promoter)

My first though was, why Alvarado didn't take a count?
Rios is one hell of a fighter but I'm not sure if he has longevity with that sort of style, he seemed to take a lot of hits boxing on the inside and I had Alvarado winning the fight until the last round. His jab was real class (4th round in particular) but Rios seemed to take it all rather well (good chin). Not sure how Rios would get on with an opponent with more reach.

Fantastic fight! Would love to see Rios getting a shot at someone like Marquez.
