I assumed he was using gay in the other sense, orange is very bright and cheerful. I'm out of the loop though, so maybe queer fixengers use spok colour instead of hankies, in which case that bike is announcing that the rider is up for anything

That does mean my trispoke means S&M, which is not a bad analogy of time trialling I suppose.
