John Cale at the RFH last night. A very long set short on the hits, but he's never pandered to the typical. At 70 he's still performing imaginative, new arrangements of much of his material, while writing interesting new stuff. A wonderful evening, intensely performed throughout and a hypnotic Gun/Pablo Picasso encore of such force you can only marvel at the power of music in the hands of a true master.
