dunno. The sea-level 20 deg C number is 761.2 mph which he didn't reach. May just have gone fast enough to reach the Mach 1 speed of the cooler air he was falling though.

I think he made 726 mph (324 m/s), maybe more, and fell from nearly 40km up, so if the atmosphere was close to standard, then yes, it looks like he went supersonic. Wonder if observers on the ground detected a sonic boom?
