  • Monies. Use it properly, or don't use it at all.

  • I absolutely fucking detest 'in terms of'. I scream inwardly (inwardly scream - discuss) every time I hear it used. It's so fucking lazy and sounds absolutely stupid. Why can't people think for a moment before rushing off into a sentence that requires this hideous rubbish.

Perhaps this is too much of a controversy (CONtroversy - let's get into pronunciation)

    Let's.

Anyone who pronounces the word casual with three syllables, is a wanker.

I do really hate this, too. I had a boss a few years ago who would use it at the beginning of almost every sentence. We used to call her "Intermsof" because she just could not stop saying it.

I sometimes catch myself saying it due to over-exposure to the phrase, and need to stop short with the words already coming out of my mouth while I patch in a replacement. Horrible stuff.

  • A former colleague once wished something to be repeated and clarified during a briefing a few years ago and used the word reitify. This has now become a regular piss-take at work but seems to be in common use in America, go figure.

  • ^ Thank God!

The misuse of apostrophes bothers me far more than it should. I judge people who don't bother with them, don't learn where to stick them or sprinkle them too liberally, in both my personal and professional lives.

I realise that probably definitely makes me sound like a bitch (after all, no one is perfect, there are far worse crimes etc. etc.) but I can't help it. It's a deal breaker.

Get a cheap sweep (or similar) from the PoundStore, whack a bit of soot on her face, borrow some tweed and a cravat from DJ, and 'voila!' you're missus can go as Bert, simples.

  • Hehe, this is why you should never admit to being a grammar nazi or every single time you make an error it will come back to haunt you!

  • If your a touch typist your fingers often get ahead of you're grammar.

  • Yes but a true pedant checks their sentences before posting.

  • Guardian Pass Notes today has 'overexaggeration'.

I seem to have come across about a dozen instances of 'irregardless' in the last couple of weeks.

  • I could care less...

  • That ^ gives me the shits...

  • I couldn't care less about it.
