The Federal investigation was a criminal fraud investigation with a different level of proof required for a conviction. They also had to prove USPS monies were used for illegal purposes cos doping isn't illegal.
I know that. But Birotte has given no explanation and the investigators were, to say the least, surprised.

One of the NY Velocity boys works in criminal law in some form and he basically said the cops/investigators he works with don't always consider the reality of trying to get a jury to convict and the DA could have had genuine fears that despite a "solid" case the cancer shield could still prove effective.
In that scenario no-one would want to say "sorry we can't prosecute he's just too fucking famous"

The main headline of 'Armstrong is a legend - Sky rider' on the BBC sport site is fucking me off.
- How is that the main story?
- He distanced himself from that statement.
- It only serves to confuse the narrative for Joe Public.
- Could the BBC be shallow enough to try and make a Sky employee (however far removed) look silly? Because that is all running that quote serves to prove.
- How is that the main story?

Yes, surely they should be going with the fact that all this about Armstrong proves you have been right about Team Sky all along?
-
• #2206
That's certainly what I took from it.

Come again? I'm not suggesting this has anything to do with Sky. I find it disappointing that the BBC just go for a sensationalist headline. Frankly, who gives a fuck what a second string Sky rider thinks about any of this?

I trust the integrity of Sky about as far as I could throw Big Dave Brailsford. When will the mainstream press twig that Geert Leinders is the redacted Rabobank doctor and now works for Sky? Actually, Kimmage already ran an article in the Mail didn't he? But Teflon Dave made sure nothing stuck.
Just saw the news. I wonder if he doesn't in the same way Armstrong stopped working with Ferrari in 2004?
I was alluding to this. Sky have made a mess of things in many ways but you do have a bit of an obsession with them secretly being the new USPS.

No doubt I am an excessive axe grinder. My opinion is that Sky get a bit of a free ride in Britain because they are British. Other than Brailsford and Dowsett's dippy comments and the still unexamined Leinders connevtion,I agree they have nothing to do with this. I actually quite respected Wiggins well considered comment on this.

Bradley's interview on Sky was a bit weird/awkward wasn't it. Is he back on the piss?

Apart from the three riders implicated in this who have ridden for them?
My issue with Sky is their ridiculous position on not hiring riders who've had bans yet happily hiring both riders and staff with skeletons in the cupboard. This looks like it is about to bite them on the arse.
They'd have been far better off if they'd adopted a policy similar to Slipstream and acknowledged that hiring riders, and especially staff, with a shady history was inevitable but what mattered was their attitude now in this supposed new era of clean(er) cycling.

Bobby Julich is another Sky employee that seems to have been identified as a redacted name in the affidavits.

He seemed to have forgotten the entire 2009 TDF. Must have been a good night

^^ purgery might be on the cards.
Isn't the suspension (and imminent retirement) of half a dozen former team mates some kind of purge?
Or did you mean perjury?

And the DS who extended his career at Motorola just to carry on riding with LA. Who was very much part of the inner circle. Who was a DS at Discovery and Astana. Mind you he did say on the radio today that he knew nothing about it, thank god for that...

Just watched Alex Dowsett on BBC news say "it doesn't matter" "he's still a legend" "he had cancer and came back and won the tour"
Or words to those effect.
Glad I didn't pose for a photo with him now...
Don't suppose that was you Mdcc Tester that I spotted in Normandy getting his signature last week?

The only time I've seen Alex was when he caught me for 3 minutes in 6 miles on the H25/8. I considered that a result, as I'd got past the first turn before being caught.

Hi I've not read enough to really know but people are saying that Lance cheated and i think that unlless all the cheaters have their titles stripped too and have to be banned too then it's all a bit unfair and also that he seems pretty genuine with his cancer charity awareness program and also he said he passed like 700 tests without failing any so what's up with that-if he beat the tests then surely the tests should have just trained harder and htfu and stop complaining about it like a decade on that's like giving keith richards a dui from like 1979 and one more thing if he was such a bad guy how come he banged both sheryl crow and bree olsen?
thanks for letting me know about this
