Hello all, got a job vacancy in the cave, sticking an ad up on Gumtree but thought someone here might benefit from this.
If you don't know, we are a shop and website (vintagebikecave.com) based in Highgate, North London. We sell vintage bicycles and parts to customers all over the world as well as building everything from retro bikes to bespoke fixies.
We have a vacancy for someone to work between 2 and 5 days a week depending on what you can commit to.
Duties would include listing products for sale on both the website and ebay, processing customer orders, dealing with telephone enquiries, handing shipping for orders, updating the blog and other general office duties.
Salary is dependent on age and experience and lies within UK min wage brackets.
This role would prove challenging for someone without a knowledge of bicycle parts. A large part of this role involves describing items for sale. You don't need to know every part ever made, but as a simple test, if you can point to any part of a bicycle and describe it – make, model condition etc.. then you would be in good stead to apply.
Alternatively, if you feel confident that you can take instructions regarding how to photograph an item and feel you are able to accurately describe the condition in a way that will not prove a surprise to the customer, please feel free to apply.
Bicycle knowledge can be taught but common sense cannot!
We welcome applicants from all age groups so don't let that hold you back!
Required skills:
Computer literate and able to grasp new things quickly and easily
Moderate to high typing speed with good spelling and punctuation.
Able to use ebay for selling
Desirable skills:
Some degree of bicycle related knowledge.
Knowledge of WordPress based websites.
Competent user of Twitter, Facebook etc..
Competent photographer (can use initiative when photographing something).
Confident telephone manner.
Benefits:
Discount on bicycle parts, services and repairs.
Unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits.
Good, friendly tight-knit environment.
If you feel like this is a position that you would be well suited to and would like to apply, please send an email to info@vintagebikecave.com with a brief bit about yourself and what you can offer.
