How many speed? 8/9/10sp?
-
• #3
10 speed. Does it matter if it's for the front 2 rings? Excuse my ignorance.

Yup, the chains are a different width so this affects the shift.
My rear mech must have taken a knock when I was last out on it. On the way to work this morning it ripped up around the cassette, breaking the chain and denting the driveside seat stay :-(

Oh thanks wasn't aware.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Is the frame still rideable?

Let me check, I've a pair, one of which is broken but I can't remember if it's the front rear one.
Give me 5 mins.

Bollocks, realised it's in a storage unit. I'll be down there next week, so can check then for you if you still need it. Let me know.

I thought all Campag front/left ergo's have multiple trim shifts hence why Campag don't define double/triple as they'll do both? Not sure on the very latest kit but with 7 or 8 trim positions you'll be able to get the FD to shift easily even with really sloppy setting up.
Only the right/rear changed in terms of cable pull (circa 2001) and that was for the rear only so front/left changers are interchangeable as far as I'm concerned.
You can buy a pair of 10 speed Xenon for 66 sheets new online in any case -

Say What??????
She's not too keen on Xenon as that's what broke last time, but she might just get it if she can't get something better second hand.

Okay, I was trying to explain why you can use any front/eft ergo on your set up. A trim shift is what a front left lever does to keep the front derailleur from catching the chain when at extremes of the cassette. Because of this you can control where the front derailleur sits thus what the poster upthread saying it makes a difference isn't quite accurate.
On the off-chance does anyone have a spare front shifter lying around. Doesn't have to be veloce, just has to work with it.
