  • Hello squire!

^must be nice for you to finally be the person saying that and not the other way around.

Ah, so that was what the police were really round for a couple of weekends ago.

  • Hello everyone!
My name is Lorenzo, and I live in Italy, in Siena to be precise. I grew up riding my bike up and down the hills of Tuscany, and after a very long layoff, I bumped into this forum while searching info for converting my old bicycle, an Aquila year '82, into single speed.
I've been lurking around for a while now, mostly bike porn and anti porn, and having finally completed my conversion would like to post some pics of the final result, hoping to meet your strict parameters :-).

  • Hi All,

I'm new here, and to the single speed world in general.

I'm from Cambridge is anyone else?

I'm also looking at getting a used Bianchi Pista Via Condotti, what are peoples thoughts on this?

    :)

  • Hello to everyone.
    I'm excited to be here.

  • Hello everyone.
Been riding fixed for about 2 years after spending ages looking at the bike porn pages on here, started off with a langster and ran it into the ground, currently got a v3 volume cutter in a wrong looking road sort of setup and recently built up a pompino which im loving, so missed the bike porn mark just a tiny bit.

  • Hey all.
London rider, bit bored of my 'comfortable', but loved Kona hybrid. Looking to put together a fixie to re-inject some spice into my riding.

Secret viewer of the bike porn pages for a while now; obviously when Kona wasn't watching!

  • Graham from Dublin here. Coming over from our now almost defunct fixed gear forum.

Brief bio: Bike messenger for 14 years, about 9 years riding fixed at this stage. Off the road now and running Dublin's only fixed gear shop, On Track... and I've no idea why I wasn't a member here before now... :)

Will not: debate 'the helmet issue' or the 'brakes/brakeless issue' (brakeless and strapless is something else entirely, however)
Will: drool over beautiful bike builds, steal all your good ideas to use in the shop.

Bikes: 3Rensho TR export, KHS Aero Track (curved seat tube), Leader 725(which I'm getting rid of as it doesn't suit my steel frame of mind :))

  • Hello everyone, I'm new here!

  • (from London and trying to find a bike)

  • Hi guys, newbie here...

My name is Radders, I live in London and ride a bike I build myself using the frame from an old Dawes bike. It was a fixed gear but then I decided to add a cassette at the back so I know I'm breaking the rules a bit! Might return it to fixed gear one of these days for the true fixie feel!

    :)

  • Hey y'all,

From New York City. Here in London for postgrad at SOAS. Here at the forum to try and find some good rides and things to do. Just brought my Anvil cross bike to serve as my do all ride (Anvil was a builder now just makes framebuilding tools).

  • Hello all,

    I am Firmo, from Middlesbrough.
Looking to build my first Fixie in the coming weeks for some winter commuting!

  • This is often misunderstood--you're most welcome to post in any thread as long as you post something sensible. It's just that you can't start a new thread until after three posts and 24 hours. In the meantime, ask your question in 'Any question answered'. You shouldn't start a new thread for it, anyway.

Thanks for that it makes it clearer

  • Hi all,

Im a long time lurker and a few months member, but this is my first post. Im from Santiago, Chile and because of Santiagos traffic I started my new and long lost relation with bikes (haven´t rode one for more than 15 years). I couldn´t be more grateful. I ride to work everyday (fixed gear with front brake) and with the, probably unknowing, help from all of you Im getting my first custom build frame. Will surely let you know how that goes!

  • Hi all I'm new to the forum and am looking for a mercian track or a Bob Jackson fairly modern.(56-58)..any leads?...thanks

  • Welcome

  • Evening all, new to the forum.

I don't live in London, although I was born there and I don't ride a fixed gear either, but as this seems to be THE place to be for all sorts of interesting bikes, builds, rides and general nonsense, I thought I'd best sign up.

  • Welcome to the #1 general nonsense forum on the internet.

  • Ello, I joined nearly a year ago - I'm not good with forums as a constant feature of my life but this is a particularly quiet, boring night shift and the boss lady is in a side room. Was in E8 now in N16. Currently riding a heavy old french tourer with minimal gears which somehow got me from Bishops Castle to Bristol a few weeks back THREE GEARS. 2 days. No actual tears. My thighs eat their own meals now.

  • I'd do a lot to escape Bishops Castle too.

    Welcome!

  • New to the site and as yet without a bike. Used to ride mountain bikes several years ago but new to the fixed thing. Already looking forward to my new commute in whatever steed I end up with!

  • Hi All,
Was big on bikes in my formative years of the late 70's early 80's.
Gave it all up when I learned to drive etc, but back in to it now thanks to my son buying a classic Viscount Aerospace Pro a couple of months back.
I'm looking for a classic road bike from the 70's or 80's to re-live my youth...maybe a Koga-Miyata or Viscount.
    Cheers
    Jem

  • Hi all, I started cycling again six months ago after a gap of about 25 years. I bought a cyclocross bike with the intention of just getting fitter and losing weight but the bug has bitten again and I'm riding much more. I want to have a go at the Dunwich Dynamo next year on a machine I've built up myself, so I'll start the search for a frame shortly.

  • Hi, I'm new to the forum, and looking forward to getting a new bike soon.
