WOW fuck me sideways that is ugly. Seems odd that the focus of this thread is on blending, metallics and gaudy clashing colours, as if 'porn' just means 'as OTT as possible'. All colnago masters are ugly. most fades are ugly. These nasty effects have come to be associated with expensive or unattainable bikes. Put most of these colour schemes on a create and you'd immediately see they were mindlessly shit.
I appreciate that as I have not contributed any pictures this sounds like a snooty rant, and that's probably because it is. neg away xx
Won't have to neg you, because it's *only your* opinion. It's worth as much as the next men's.
That frame was mine and probably the best paint scheme I've seen live. See...? You hate it, I love it. There's no right and wrong.
Your definition of "gash" is mine of "wunderbar".
Shall we just deal with it? -

And it ended up like this, which to me, is equally ace.
(Only repainted 'cause it needed to be fixed)

currenlty on le'bay'.
i have never built a road bike, in fact barely ridden them either but I want one.
Is it bad to build something like this with a modern group on it? i realise perhaps this isnt the thread for this dscussion but still love the colourscheme but needs a shot in natural light.

Not if you do a nice sympathetic job and ride the hell out of it. :)

Yeah, there's been a couple of nice lugged frames with modern groupsets about recently. I built an early nineties road bike with period groupset and just upgraded to STIs and modern pedals and i loved it. Would also recommend goin for compact bars. That paint is awesome. Go for it

Overall fair point - there are some hidious paint jobs so far. But not all masters are gash, and it is possible to have something so hideously decorative that it becomes good. I think Somecs are better than 'nagos on paint for that. Nice blend of creativity while still being balanced (if that makes sense).
Also totally take issue with your fades point - the Co-Motion, skullys bike and the green and white Columbus Max are all awesome. Fact.
Also just to gauge your taste I'd be currious to see what youre into
sorry sir, you dropped your Pegoretti catalogue.
#forces it into hugo's chest
indeed but the colours are heavy
For this reason I'll be sticking with Ti

The Merckx above your post has a modern Campagnolo group set ...

Gonna be a bit cheeky and post my own Fondriest here:
Not sure if they just had lots of leftover pain in different colours or what happened, but they do seem to have used similar paintjobs on a lot of their frames from the late 90s. I wouldn't call it pretty in the traditional sense, but I've come to appreciate its quirkiness.
