Same question as Hippy really, is there a limit on the size of bike that would fit? cheers
-
• #4
size is 110cm length, 69cm height, 23cm thick..
The way the box works is that you remove both wheels, remove chain, detach rear mech bubblewrap it , remove seat post and saddle and loosen headset to rotate handbars It is a good fit for a 58cm frame.
All the spare parts fit around the box. I carried enough for a ten day tour.. takes about a hour to rebuild bike when you unpack.

an hour to rebuild a bike?!
where are you based? my frame is 62cm, do you reckon it would fit? -

Mines 62cm as well, I'm trying to sort out my trip to New Zealand this summer. Weighing up taking the bike with me against getting one out their/ hiring one. This looks like it could do the job! Is it easy to put the rear de-railer back on properly? I'm slightly ham fisted.

yes. depending on frame + derailleur, screwdriver/allen key (+ lube) is all you need (assuming you leave the cable attached + rear derailler placed near rear triangle).

@ liquidsky - okay less than a hour, if you have done it before.
62cm should fit, critically height determined by top of bars to bottom of fork dropouts..
length determined by handlebar width side-on to rear dropouts..
PS remove pedals too forgot to mention that previously..
@spencerwells - check carriage cost with airline, nothing better than riding your own in another country..

I have no idea, probably heavy 13kg when you include 3no. foam inserts, it don't fit on kitchen scales but it has wheels.. how heavy is your bike?

Hi there. I am looking for one Trico Iron box case.
I was wondering if your one still available.
If is not, could you please recommend any place where I can find a second hand one.
Please let me know.
Thank you.
I have a bomb proof bike box I would like to sell. It is pretty basic and comes with three foam inserts for a well packed bike and space to carry plenty of spares.
The case has wheels and loads of straps. I think these boxes are about £240 each new. I am selling mine for £100 cash. My alpine adventures are on hold for a while, this bike box is perfect for transit by train / plane and ensures your bike absolute protection.
