He claimed the serial number put it in the early 50s, shortly after Grubb was taken over by Holdsworth.
The badge dates it in the mid- to late-50sMy Grubb has a serial of 12176 and (supposedly) dates at 1952.
Not that any of this makes any difference - It's a really handsome looking frame.
Good luck with the sale.

I reckon it's 22.5", so it's ever-so-slightly more than 57cm. I make it 57.2cm.

Sold.
Hello
I have decided to sell my FH/Freddie Grubb track frame.
Built with 27" wheels:
Built with 700c wheels:
More images here.
Seat-tube: 57cm c-t-c
Top-tube: 57cm c-t-c
Seatpost: 26.4mm
Rear spacing: 110mm
Front spacing: 100mm
BB: English-threaded
Tubing: I'm not sure, but think it's 531 plain gauge
Serial number: 19722
It's built to take 27" wheels, and is drilled for a front brake. The dropouts and forkends are Campagnolo. The BB shell has an oiler hole and was made by RGF (Raccord Gargette Freres). It has short plain spearpoint lugs and a lovely fork crown.
At some point before it came to me, it was resprayed deep metallic red. There are some chips, but nothing too major. The awesome headbadge is there, but it had been glued on following the respray and eventually fell off. So you'd need to find someone who can rivet it on properly. There are quite a few chips on the head-tube because I had to chip off the dried glue, but with the badge in place they're not visible.
I bought it about eighteen months ago from Hilary Stone. He claimed the serial number put it in the early 50s, shortly after Grubb was taken over by Holdsworth.
Headset not included.
SOLD.
Collection from Shadwell, E1.
