  • Has anybody got experience of mounting lowrider racks onto forks that don't have the bosses midway up the fork? Crazy or not?

  • my rack came with u-shaped clamp things so those without mounts could make do.

  • ^p-clips?

  • no, these were solid rubber coated Us. Not Ps.

  • No. P clips bend and clamp. These were solid, unbending, rubber coated 'U's.

  • If I could be bothered to cupboard rummage I'd dig them out and snap them. If they're in there. Which they might not be.

    Using the above:

  • Someone just gave me a Roland A-37 midi keyboard controller to play around with.

I'm trying to plug it into Ableton Live 8 (just a demo copy for now) via a midi-usb converter. The device is "recognised" by windows 7 and works properly according to Device Manager. But when I open Ableton I can't get any signal from it.

I've used Garageband and a Yamaha midi keyboard before using the same cable and it worked ok.

What's the process for Ableton? On the help function within the software, it says there's supposed to be a highlighted square next to the Midi logo in the top right, but it's not highlighted. Thoughts?

  • We have a large Ikea Malm chest of drawers above which are some wall-mounted shelves.

In the quest for more storage space I want to remove the shelves and replace both with a chest of drawers with cupboards on top. We already have a built in wardrobe so don't want another free-standing wardrobe.

Apparently there's no such thing as what I'm thinking of but the closest I've found is something called a linen press:

Any other suggestions before I spend stupid amounts of money on some vintage linen press bollocks?

Google seems to pull up similar stuff if you ask for "armoire" - some of it's in the States though ...

You might not want a wardrobe, but the IKEA Hemnes (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70141855/) is the same concept as the linen presses (fewer drawers) and this one (http://mto.lauraashley.com/furniture/cabinet/3493890/confirmation/devon-three-quarter-wardrobe) is an more interesting design - not hugely tall though. Both of those are wider than the Malm drawers you have though.

If you could find a cupboard you liked, you could always just stand it on top of the drawers, and get interior fittings separately - depth might be a problem, not sure you'd be able to hang things straight. (We've got a smallish bookcase standing on top of a different IKEA set of drawers - looks OK and it's pretty stable.)

  • I just put together a hemnes bureau for our living room this saturday.

they do an add on to the bureau which might look ok stuck on top of the same ranges chest of drawers.

    with this on top:

    although they're not same width/depth.

  • I need help with a SQL query. I'm struggling to explain it as I have no formal SQL training so bear with me here.

For each record in one table, there are multiple matching records on the second. To make it slightly easier to explain, the first table is a list of leads and the second table is a list of clients. Multiple clients are matched to each lead, so multiple records on the second table join to one record on the first.

Usually the lead is sent to all the clients at the same time, at which point multiple client records are created on the second table at the same time. So all the client records have the same modified date. However, some times the lead is sold twice at different times and so some of the client records have one modified date (when the records were created in the second table) and some have a different modified date, but they still join to one record on the first table.

How can I do a query that retrieves the lead records where they have been sold twice, ie where there are client records with different modified dates that join to the same lead record?

    Does this make any sense?

  • That doesn't even make sense to me.

  • Maybe something like:

    SELECT L.lead FROM
    lead L WHERE (SELECT COUNT(*)

                    FROM client C
                    WHERE C.LeadID = L.ClientID) > 1

NB: I don't know what your columns are laid out like so I'm guessing column and table names.

  • Does anyone know where one can buy fresh truffles in London, east or central preferably..?

  • Borough market, it's kinda central.

Would've thought somewhere like Fortnum&Mason or Selfridges foodhall would do some, but I am not too familiar with them...

  • My building has no water. All the taps are running dry. Borland Rd, Nunhead. What's up? Any ideas?

  • It's all been drunk

  • where are the nearest Thames Water pipe replacement works?

  • drought

  • where are the nearest Thames Water pipe replacement works?

    Amazing.
Thames Water reporting a local leak, imagine it's something to do with that. Ta.

(Thames Water Live! Oh the excitement!)

  • In the time it's taken me to find that on the internet, it's back on. As you were.

  • I'm not very familiar with bbc iplayer, just downloaded a .wmv to play offline, but it won't play on my mac version windows media player lite or whatever it is. I think because it has DRM. is there an easy way of downloading a reasonable resolution video that can play back, offline, on a mac? I have usual stuff like Quicktime player, VLC, WMP. I don't need to break the DRM or anything, just to watch tomorrow.

  • What programme was it? Popular shows usually get uploaded to file hosting sites fairly quickly, usually easy to find by googling the "show name" + "popular file hosting name"

  • The Bridges That Built London

file hosting? is this some semi-legal sharing business? I'm not going there.
it just seems odd that you can download a low-res version, a high-res platform windows-specific version, but no high-res mac version. unless I'm trying to play it on the wrong thing, I thought stuff was getting less platform-specific...
