Chiesa Cicli A to B bike

  • I had been looking for a langster steel frame for a while as I wanted to build one up into my work SS bike and to get me around from a to b etc.

Had a very specific look for the bike in my head - gloss black frame with chrome forks and rear triangle, loads of chrome parts and some brown bits for my ass and hands to make contact with.

Long story short, couldn't get a langster frame in the size I wanted or for the price I wanted to pay.

Saw this on the forum for super cheap (£60) and took a chance on it.

I thought I would make do with the chrome chainstay.

Got the frame home and took a scraper to the paint and found that there was chrome on both dropouts so I've taken some nitromors to it and the entire rear triangle is chromed which is awesome.

Hacked off the downtube braze-ons and now I need to file off what is left. Will be running front and back brakes but I might saw the rear hanger and the cable guides on the bb shell off.

Just got back from NYC where I went to the bi-annual bike jumble in Brooklyn where I could have bought several bikes. It was unreal.

I actually came away with a C-Record headset and a Centaur chainset.

Starting to collect other bits and bobs, will get some photos of the frame in its current state up tomorrow.

  • So got the wire wool out and cleaned up the remaining bits of paint from the rear triangle. The chrome that was hidden under the paintwork looks pretty dull but should polish up quite nicely.

Also had a quick filing session on one of the braze ons. I have a cheap crappy file so this is going to take a while!

Frame and forks are pretty lightweight, made from columbus matrix which is now called cromor I believe.

Has anyone had any experience of getting their frame powdercoated at armourtex but having the chrome masked off?

  • nice bike, and super rad palm tatt!

  • So an update of sorts:

Frame is with Armourtex getting painted this week and I have slowly been amassing various parts. Have to say they were awesome when I took it in customer service wise.

Thanks to anyone from the forum who I have got bits and bobs from.

So here are some of the things I have gathered so far:

Now with the bike being an italian frame I have tried to keep with that theme as much as possible and this is where I need to make a decision.

I have this lovely Nitto stem and a set of Shimano Exage levers. Should I get rid of these and get a nice Cinelli stem and a set of Campag aero levers?

I'm still looking to get the following bits:

Bars - thinking campione del mondo but its hard to find the exact set that I want - 66-44 polished with single grooves and a 26mm clamp (this might change if I sell the stem).

Bottom Bracket - need to work out chainline before I get this.

Tyres - probably going to go for Conti's

Need to get the wheels built up (Cheesecake is going to sort this) and the seatpost polished up.
