  • Sold to benjam

  • time waster me.

  • if anyone else is interested in upgrading their shifters. the wight difference between the 6600SL and the 6700 (with carbon instead of plastic levers)....

    ...12g...yes... 12 grams.

Dammit: I'm looking at you :)

  • Enjoy the hidden cable routing... Can't believe you actually weighed them.
Lets be honest, weight doesn't really matter until you're fast enough to grind your gears in Tour de France. Even then, there are restrictions on minimum weight... PEDAL HARDER => RIDE FASTER

  • ^^ Will you be using these with 6600 derailleurs and brakes benjam?

Shimano say it can't happen (but I don't really believe them).

Cable operated gears are very 2009

  • My next bike is having gears shifted using a finger/stick.

    Trufax.

  • Some sort of unicorn stick arrangement with a bend on the end?

Yeah, I met a guy couple of weeks ago on my commute who I noticed had that setup and I asked whether he had any trouble with brake power/modulation. No was the response.

Off the bike it seems they are a bit agressive in braking initially but this is probably more to do with the lever's form than anything else. Shifting seems fine, apart from the fact I've lost the 3 downshift swipe for Exedown :'(

    Shimano are full of shit.

  • Can't believe you actually weighed them.

To be fair I half did it to poke fun at Neil and half to inform the description of my listing on eBay for my old brifters.

  • ...Shimano are full of shit.

These newer levers pull a little more brake cable apparently, but I always thought that shouldn't really be a problem. It's good to hear it works out that way in practice Thanks.

    HERESEY! BURN THE HERITCS! Etc.

    Bye bye comp records..

  • These newer levers pull a little more brake cable apparently

I believe it pulls more cable initially because of the higher pivot point on the lever relative to the prior generation. I imagine the brake arms themselves are moulded to compensate for some of this.

However as someone who has their brakes setup with almost zero play it works just fine :)

  • I think Dubtap is running this way- apparently the Shimano view is that it makes the brakes TOO POWERFUL, but then you can just use less squeeze.
