  • If you have an item for sale anywhere other than here, like ebay, bikeradar, ctc, retrobike, etc. then you cannot post it here.
    ...

  • Okay I have now taken it off the Swedish site - so it is now all exclusive to this forum - sorry for the rookie mistake :-)

  • Price Bump - GBP 600,-

  • I've been around quite a bit & have never seen a Cinelli disc before, so am somewhat bemused here, although have no desire to upset a sale.

I'd have to say that the disc looks suspiciously similar to a Mavic Comet: 2 reasons- 1/ the fixing on the non drive side are looking exactly the same as a Comet

2/ The belled out shaped on the drive side is exactly the same as a Comet

I'm aware the decal is THE Cinelli one.

As to the price I'll keep my gob shut on what I believe it's worth

An odd one here I'm thinking.

Ps Dugast tubs are truly the business! (they do the super quick pink ones, as well as others in more normal colours)

I do have a personal view on the price, but I'm keeping my gob shut

  • EL_Diablo......

Please do not keep your gob shut (you have already started opening it anyway :-) ) - help me out !

After a search on the internet all I could find was a simmilier wheel sold for USD 1700,- ....... that is how I have set my price ....

As you can see I have written that I have no idear what it is worth, I am not into track bikes ....

So what is your oppinion ? what is it worth ?

    In advance thank you .....

  • P.S the drive side is not belled out - it is bad Lightning - I know the guy who have written it and it have in no way been modified ....

  • I order to prove orginality of the wheel I have the following from the internet:

this is from Cinelli only - it a road version but you can see the hubs are build the same way.

secondly - Here is a picture of the danish world champ Hans Henrik Oersted with his cinelli laser - you can see here that the hubs are the same ....

  • A clue on the Mavic Comet is the disc is glued to a very trusty Mavic 501 hub that's easily seen complete with logo on it

    hmm there's two values-

1/ What it could bring on here - guessing and am thinking in the region of £200

2/ What it would bring on e-Bay, could be considerably more with the right interest, you could get lucky here too

I'm not into vintage kit - I have paid £600 for a Lightweight disc in the past (hub wasn't fantastic )

    :-S

    Well ......

    1. it is Not a marvic it is a cinelli - look at the picture and link provided … (I will take better pictures of mine in the weekend)
    2. So ..... the way I read your post you are basically saying that you also have gotten no idea about the value (or perhaps even less as I did a tiny bit of research)
    3. I simply do not understand how you can compare a new wheel to this - it is the same as comparing apples to oranges.

And if there are no takers here at a reasonable price close to the asking price I will take my chances on Evilbay – however I general do not like to sell there I do prefer forums …..

  • Doesn't look at all like my Comete track disc (of a similar era)

Thank you very much ..... and it is not a Mavic, i have a road version Mavic on my Colnago Krono TT bike and it is not at all the same ..

This is 100% sure a genuine Cinelli ......

    +1

Can i get a photo of the hub on the driveside ?, is there a left hand thred for a lockring ?

  • Not many people have enough money to pay your asking price.
For a vintage disc you will likely get £200

  • Numerius: I will post a photo later - and as far as I remember there is not a left hand thred but I will let you know later today or tomorrow.

Passion: excuse my sarcasm - how has it anything to do with what most people can afford ? - I can´t afford a cinelli laser for my collection, that does not mean that someone will give it to for nothing because I cannot afford it ...... yes you can buy some unknown or badly shaped disc wheel for 200 but what I have for sale here is not a random disc wheel …………… This is for a collector who knows what it is ……. And if someone who know what they talked about said it only was worth 200 then I would accept it right away – but so far I am not impressed about the response (not all posts included) – it is very fair to be critical, if you know what you are talking about !

  • Put it on retrobike, you'll be much more likely to get your asking price as they'll appreciate it's real value and will be more likely to be able to afford it.

  • Sounds to me that you got a roaddisc, if so you must buy a freehub adapter to get the correct chainline

  • Numerius: Well ...... even though I am not in to track bikes I do know (because I have spend 10 min with one of my best friends google) that some older track wheels did not have a lock -ring - the reason - you do not need to break on the track ! you will also find that some of the older campa hubs do not have a lock-ring .... it is incredible what you can learn on the internet ..... this is a track wheel and it have been used on the track ...

umop3pisdn: Thank you very much for this usable advice - I will for sure put it on retrobike this weekend ....

  • Well, if you have the wheel, upload a picture of the hub on the driveside,
is the tire glued to the wheel?, does it hold air ?

  • yes the tub is glued and yes it holds air ....

  • Yup, needs a track adapter (approx £30) for the correct chain alignment. As was stated -its a road wheel with a screw on hub. The grease ouzing out of the hub suggests its not an original axle.

The fact it's a screw on hub would need to be advised on e-bay, if someone bought the wheel without that knowledge they'd be "rather annoyed'.

Good luck with the sale on e-bay!

  • Have this wheel ever been used on the track?, the chainline is off, looking at the spacing/dish, you need a adapter to get the correct chainline, there is +800 views and the wheel is not sold, what can that mean ?
