  • Hay guys new to fixed gear bikes just picked up a mongoose Maurice and was thinking of slapping a set of schwalbe marathons on it as I'm gonna be riding it to work every day in all weather and wondered what the best size would be I will also be doing some general messing around on it too and I would like to fit some chain adjusters but there is not much axel sticking out on the stock hub set up any ideas??

    Cheers

  • Hello There, I've been using continental sport contact 700 x 28C. for a couple of years. they're fairly light, 1 puncture and the roads are like a ploughed field in places. tug nuts are necessary for pratting about. mine are quite thin, NKS ones from HUBJUB. hope this helps.

  • Cheers mate I will have a look at the bits you mentioned

  • I ran Durano plusses for a while and really liked them!
    700x28 is what you want.

  • Oh another thing I thought you'de like is "restraps" from charliethebikemonger.
I tried toeclips and clipless but I think thes are the business. I took a risk as they cost £25 but well worth it.
