  • I've done it with aero levers, but not STIs.

    You find the preferred lever position, put the cable outer in place and secure it firmly with electrical tape or similar. Then it is important to mark the position of the lever clamps as there's nothing to hold them in place when you remove the lever assy and bolt. Put the bolt back without the lever to hold the clamp in place while wrapping. Now, the first wrap above the clamps should be under the cable outer(s) and then the rest will go over them. the bar tape will hold on to the lever clamps untill you have reinstalled the lever. You can still do minor adjustements to the position.
    Until now I have always used the 2 small strips to avoid gaps, but from now on I will always do as above.
