If you doubt her patience, do not get her the X100. It's a great camera but it does take time to learn and get the best out of. And will she want to be limited to 35mm? Sony NEX lenses aren't really there yet; zooms are disproportionately large for bodies and 16mm prime is reportedly weak. Panasonic G5? Nikon 1?
