Sapele looks rather lovely, though it appears to vary quite a lot. I have some nice pieces of hardwood stashed away. They've been waiting years for me to do something with them.
All I've used for the past couple of years is crappy pine that's barely had time to dry & starts to warp the moment I turn my back on it :-(
