For Sale: Neil Orrell 1979 touring bike... lovely!

  • I had this advertised on another forum, as I thought there woul be more interest there.....I was wrong. I know you lot 'on here' are more knowledgable and appreciative of Orrells, but I also know that it's harder to get money out of you when the price creeps up a bit!
Anyway......donation to the forum to follow, as my little star has temporarily faded....

Genuinely difficult sale for me, this, my 1979 Orrell tourer.....renovated a long time ago by Orrells themselves, and still in extremely fine condition.

23-1/2" Seat tube, Centre of BB to top of seat tube
531 ST (Special Touring) tubing, campagnolo ends (horizontal), chromed fork crown, 3/4 chromed front forks, 1/2 chromed rear triangle
    Shimano 105 headset
    Campagnolo Veloce 9-speed brake levers/shifters
    Campag Mirage 9-speed rear mech
    Sun Tour Cyclone front mech
    Chainset SR Aerox 172.5, 46/36/28
    Rear cartridge 9speed campagnolo 13-26
    Campagnolo 9-speed chain
Rear wheel Campagnolo Mirage hub, Campagnolo QR skewer, 27" Weinmann Alessa Rim, 36 stainless steel spoked
Front wheel unknown hub, Sachs QR skewer, 27" Weinmann Alessa Rim, 36 stainless steel spoked
    Cinelli 90mm stem
nitto noodle bars ( perfect for touring)
    Tektro brake cantilevers
    Wellgo SPD pedals
brooks B17 narrow in perfect shape or Team pro in the same condition.....your choice
    Esge Chromoplastic mudguards
    Blackburn alloy rack
Sigma Sport BC800 computer (untested - needs a new battery)
    Serial number NA960
Built in 1979 from Reynolds 531 St ( special touring) tubing

A wonderful machine, ready for miles of trouble free touring...... Only for sale as I have been lured by a big wheeled 29er, and have neither the space or the cash to spare right now....

Shown with a 700 wheel set , not the original 27" that come with it....

£550 collected from near Stansted airport.

    Another incarnation.....

Offers are of course welcomed.....postage is more than possible, but I would like you to have a ride, ding the bell, etc.

  • That's beautiful. Hope it goes to a good home.

  • Fuuuck. Thats exactly what I need... Too big :(

  • Thanks for the comments.... Come and have a spin.....

    Same.

Beautiful bike at a great price.

  • £525 then......don't make me eBay it.

I want someone decent to own this......

  • Awesome bike and just what I've been looking for. But alas it's at least 2 1/2 inches too big for me. Good luck with the sale, amazing bike!

  • very nice looking bike, shame its too big for me

  • Thanks for the nice comments people.... Any chance you can tell your taller mates?

Last drop.... £500 to someone 'on here'

I'll keep it otherwise and sell something else

  • I've got a Neil Orrell too, might even be the same frame. She's lovely, attracts admiring glances and comments all the time. I thought about selling her once, but then we had a moment and, well, no. She stays.

  • I know the feeling...... Thing is, I need a 29er in my life and will probably get something to double up as a tourer, making the orrell redundant. That would be a crying shame.
Anyway, no more bumps from me, if it doesn't sell quickly, I will sell something else. .... I might do that anyway
