Montane Featherlight - resign yourself to getting a bit wet in anything (or get wet from sweat anyway)

I picked up a pair of these last night from Sports Direct on Oxford Street and I'm pleasantly surprised after my 1 rainy ride. Nice feeling, long in the leg and slim. Just to wear over my work trousers while it's raining as I'm not a massive fan of commuting in lycra and they seem good enough. At £15 you can't complain either

I need some lightweight packable waterproof trousers as my trusty Enduras are no longer trusty and leak very badly. Ideally ones I can buy in a shop in central London because I am disorganised and have no time left for things that require postage. Any recommendations? Main criteria is as light as possible (they're for touring) so no army surplus recommendations please.

I say those muddy fox ones from sports direct ^^^. having used them about 5 times in rain I can say they're pretty good. a bit boil in the bag but nothing too awful (make an attempt to be breathable unlike the surplus ones), they're fucking cheap and roll up nice and small. plus, you can try them on at the shop on oxford st (if they still have them, they were in the far right hand corner by the 'bike' section) and if you don't like them then go buy some decent, more expensive, ones from a bike specific shop nearby, and it's not a wasted trip either way

Mudguards completely protect legs from rain?
Scoble pls.

You need to find wide mudguards and mount them on top of your trousers.

It helped quite a bit in all but the most severe downpour.

I don't think anyone is going to deny that mudguards are certainly useful in keeping water from being throwing up from your wheels at your legs, but they aren't terribly useful for stopping water falling from the sky onto them.

Did you find something that met your requirements? I've never cycled in waterproofs before but most people on TransAm seem to take them so guess I should get a pair. Need to be light and fit over my legs, ie. impossible requirements :)

Fuck me! 300 euro for not even full-length trousers. Out.
Any current recommendations for Waterproof trousers that work, pack down small and aren't too pricey?
