me and a few mates organised ssuk2010 up in scotland for i think over 300 people in the end and that was seriously stressful so this time i think it will be much more relaxed and as it's the first one really just a big social ride. General Lucifer and sam am sure will get involved to organise it too - am quite excited already!
off for a ride first thing so might see if i can find a start of the course
:)

Sounds grand - how stringent is the pre '87 restriction for components? One of my bikes fits the bill you've mentioned, but has modern rims.
Must be said, the name cannot be bettered.
-
• #10
not stringent at all as long as you have DT shifters and no spds then that is enough for me - (same attitude they have in italy)

• #11
Perfect. In for this.

I'm in! Can we finish at t'Black Sheep brewery in Masham?
-
• #15
there is a brewery involved but not black sheep :)
-
• #16
nice! I'd love to join, put it in the diary
-

Tom, T'Eroica - great idea and I'll likely join you. Your bike requirements are a little less stringent than this year's L'Eroica which say (I think) that the brake cables must be showing - i.e. not routed under the handlebar tape.

That picture is where you stopped and had a sandwich on last years E'roica.....have you got enough 'Strada Melma' oop North ?
-
• #19
well i just got back from a spin in the vale of york which is where i think it may start and its pretty flat round there but it definitely hits hilly and gritty when we head north :)

I was just going to chirp up with "T'Eroica" :-) [BTW Pendle Witches is at Easter]. Second May Bank Holiday is the Boulogne Bicycle Rally - dunno if that'd affect entries (I'd probably come & do T'Eroica). Definately need some "strade bianchi" on it.

aha - thanks graeme - maybe need to rethink timings then - will get my thinking cap on

I'm in for this puppy!
Don't just head North from the vale though, Tom - remember our chat about Wolds riding? Some incredible places to ride around there and it's almost deserted.
As I put on your facebook, my offer of a motorised recce of the ride stands. We can bring bikes in the car.
Let me know!!
Any other help you need, just ask.

Sounds lovely. I'm in!!
ok, so the pendle witches do a vintage ride in october but i can never make it because it's the time of year i go to l'eroica in italy
so i've just decided either 1st or second bank holiday weekend in may 2013 i'll be putting on a vintage ride up in the yorkshire moors
details to follow but if i put it writing here then i am committed and after i get back from l'eroica this year i'll have the motivation to sort it!
anyone interested? ideally i want 20+ riders to meet the day before we'll sort out a campsite or massive house to stay in and ride 150km+ with a yorkshire pub stop for lunch and beers in the evening.
will be the same rules as l'eroica - pre 87 bikes, no STI's, SPD's or carbon
more details to follow...
