  • Day of the most heavenly summer Saturday September on record, couple of reasons .
All these trips linked by bike.
Madison training 2hours first thing, last session in calendar from Chester Hill Southern Cycle Coaching, riding with lads between 16-20 adds some raw energy to track riding, these lads are league names already.
Kids session coaching, giving variety of.grasstrack activities, pushing upcoming local cross.race.
Friends from Luton civil ceremony old cycling collegues.
Beach ride to East end of beach, run and swim with gf, then cake festival with devon cream and jam workout.
Beach ride to west end sandbanks and home as the dark dropped in again.
Don't get any better this life.peace.

  • Weekend ride with the girlfriend was thoroughly rained off. Depressing.

Had to find 1,700 calories of 'alternative exercise'. Less depressing.

  • Wit wooo

  • Haven't been able to walk since Thursday. No weekend ride. Feel antsy and moody :(

  • Whats happened T? Dosent bode well Hope you're cared for.
I imagine there's plenty cancelled rides today including the track one I was due to be coaching for friends...

  • 6pt how long are you likely to be housebound for?

  • Haven't been able to walk since Thursday. No weekend ride. Feel antsy and moody :(

I have been out of action since late-July with knee trouble. F'king annoying.
I hope you recover faster than I am. [and don't try and rush back like I did after a few weeks and set your recovery back to square one].

  • This week 330km of Fix-touring - some pics (cycles with gears may occur without warning)

  • Love it.

  • I wasn't very happy at about 1.30pm. I'd been in a cafe in Rye for over an hour, which is far longer than I'd normally spend on a mid-ride lunch. But having ridden 70 miles in the pissing rain to get there, I was attempting to a) warm up and b) muster the enthusiasm to ride home again.

The rain didn't look like it was going to let up so I pulled out my plan B. I don't usually listen to music while riding, but I sometimes take an iPod in case I need distraction (from extreme exhaustion, lack of fuel, muscular/joint pain etc). Today it was needed. So I braved the outdoors, shifted into the big ring and hammered it another 70 miles home through torrential rain with howling wind in one ear and the Daft Punk Tron soundtrack in the other. No wee stops.

I'm now shivering uncontrollably and attempting to steal other people's body heat, but I think it might have been worth it.

  • After an hour hammering up and down the Highway in the driving rain, wearing next to nothing, I can sympathise.

I'm going to spend the rest of the day in a bath with the hot tap running constantly.

  • I've spent today rewiring the bathroom, it's 18 degrees in here but I'm losing the circulation in my toes right now.

I'm glad I didn't head out on the bike today.

I will however be stealing Gussio's South Downs way route.

I might stop at Brighton, not sure- my parents live in WInchester, and Fenella's parents live in Eastbourne.

    Hmm.

  • On the plus side some roadie asked who I was training for. I lolled and gave him a percy pig as a reward.

  • Did a bit of the South Downs Way, overnighted at Saddlescombe Farm - first bikepacking/bivi experience. A great way to spend 24 hours...

  • Did London to Brighton for the first time yesterday with a mate. We were quite unprepared in terms of the route which actually became quite annoying having to stop and check the phone to see where we were. Also, we somehow managed to miss out the Beacon. Not quite sure how that happened but all in all it was a lot of fun and the parts on the country lanes were great.

  • bad legs
    got wet
    bike covered in road shit
    still, good to be out.

  • nice!

  • Not huge miles, but lots of climbing up and around Manchester this weekend:
    http://100climbsfor2012.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/a-yorkshireman-in-lancashire-weekend-in.html

From the 100 climbs book this includes (deep breath now): The Cross of Greet, Halifax Lane, Holme Moss, Jubilee Tower, Nick of Pendle, Pea Royd Lane, Shibden Wall, The Rake and finally the Trough of Bowland (and release)

    Getting there...

  • FNRttC to Brighton. A large group. A welcome coffee stop provided by a member's family before tackling the Beacon. Despite the smooth tarmac I only managed 2/3 before having to walk this time round. Great views from the top. The traffic lights should all be on green on the downward swoop into Brighton at that hour of the morning :-).

Still tired this morning but happy.

  • I've had a fantastic weekend's riding. First 25 mile TT on Saturday in 1:03:30, and then this today:

    http://app.strava.com/rides/23592431

Same bike for both rides, 94 and 66 inches respectively. All in all, 160 miles on the bike this weekend. Tomorrow is going to be painful...

  • I've done enough riding this year. Rode the 'dor up to watch a bit of the Ealing half marathon.

  • Was going to go for my first ride in two weeks. Thought better of it. Feeling fat and slow. Blah. Can walk without pain now though, yay.

  • rode back from a first date- really bright moon, owls hooting and a 2nd date!

  • my first cross race of the year come on hippy keep up its the start of the year....
enjoyed the spin in the forest, never going too far over the speed edge as to result in unwanted dismounts.
plenty of the hargroves lads over for this wessex cross race, just felt so good making good lines, cleaning climbs and being back in the flow
