I really don't understand the attraction with Jags. They'll always be the poor cousins in the sports car/gt world. Their designs are hardly cutting edge and their residual values are worse than a housing estate in Tyneside.
And then there's the unmistakeable whiff of "golf club" and cheap cigars about them. Clarkson was right - they always seem to be driven by people on the edge of financial ruin, cads and bounders.
I love the current range - the XF, XJ and this F type at any rate. If I was the type to buy an upmarket saloon car I would absolutely have one over a BMW (which are common as muck these days and no longer really anything special) or a Merc (which all look like Hyundais nowadays). And as for Audi, they are a joke; posh VW bought by salesmen.
Never been keen on the XK though. That is golf clubby.
I didn't like anything launched since Ford bought them though. All those old man retro cars. I absolutely lust after the XJ-S V12 though, and have a soft spot for XJ40s (not that I am ever likely to buy one)
Not keen on older Jags though. Mk2s aren't all that, and E-types are nice to look at in series 1 guise but that's it. The only old one I would love is a long-nose D type, which is one of the most beautiful things ever, but I'm not a millionaire so will never own one.
I detest golf and only smoke expensive hand-rolled cuban cigars.
