Maybe not an 'Oh Shit' moment but;
Years ago i was cycling to work and noticed the road ahead was a little flooded. Nah, i thought, it won't be that deep. So off i went, gradually my wheels, then feet began to get wet.
By the time i was up to my knees i figured turning around was the best option.
Later that morning they had to airlift people from a campsite along that same road.
