A truly Jurassic dredge here but I'm wondering how your CT is 10 years later? Has it resolved completely or have you developed ways to manage it?
Over the past couple of years I've started to get pain in the fleshy part of my palm just below the thumb, it starts to ache within half an hour of riding and by the end of the ride my wrist feels like it's burning. My Index and middle finger also start to swell up a little.
Stretching out my fingers and thumb causes pain at the affected point, so I'm not really sure if stretching it is a good or bad idea...I'm really annoyed at my self for waiting this long before actually doing anything about it but I have an appointment with my GP coming up to discuss it.
I'm not even sure that it certainly is CTS since I don't get any tingling or pins and needles but it seems like its very likely something to do with the Median nerve at least.Feeling pretty bummed to have another ache/issue with a contact point on the bike after dealing with mortons nueroma in my foot which is finally starting to feel like its improving only to now struggle with my hand!
Just thought I'd see how you are with it now??
Thought I’d dredge this thread up as I have carpal tunnel syndrome...
It started about 2 months ago, pins and needles then complete numbness in my right hand while riding – annoying, painful and a bit unsafe too as you can’t brake with numb hands. It doesn’t seem to be getting better, despite anti-inflammatories and sleeping with a wrist splint on. This morning I had my first appointment at Crystal Palace sports physio – the physio there reckons my ridiculously double-jointed arms have got me in this mess, and that I already have muscle wastage in my hand :( And there was me thinking it was pretty cool to be this double jointed.
I’m booked in for a steroid injection in a month’s time – has anyone had one of these before? Apparently I can’t ride a bike for 10 days afterwards (urgh) but it’ll be worth it if it helps.
I will do literally anything to avoid having to have surgery.
