I didn't pay much attention to the KHE competition, but after seeing this edit I checked out his comp entry. Clearly I need to up my freecoaster game.

Today has brought my periodic musings over buying a freecoaster back with a vengeance.
Must resist. -

To tempt me away from impulse purchases, cassette and no pegs. Pure Style.

And as the last video I'll post along these lines, a guy I'd never heard of until Adam22 hired him to blog for TCU, Charlie Crumlish:

Definitely on the "to purchase" list.
Speaking of which I recently picked up a copy of Standard Procedure.
Well worth a fiver for anyone, especially if you ride street in London. -

Likewise, not helped by George's previous tirade's on retractable pawls.
It'll be interesting to see how they actually hold up compared to the expectation of better bearing life vs possible disintegration of the internals. -

not BMX, still damn fine riding though

I'm a sceptic when it comes to new freecoaster designs, and I'm not a huge fan of the idea of pawls in a freecoaster (I like my freecoasters silent). The internals are very interesting, I'd love to have a play around with one to fully understand the mechanism.
I wonder what might happen if the hub were to accidently engage whilst fakieing at speed, that would put quite a shock through the tips of the three pawls. They also only come with one slack setting, and you have to purchase a seperate slack disc to change this if it isn't to your liking, so hopefully they come with the maximum gap.
I hope it works amazingly and stops the faulty variants of the KHE hubs from being the only option when it comes to LHD and peg use,. However I can see it getting a bad reputation even if it does work due to it looking too complicated for your average bmx kid to hit back together with a hammer.
If you're considering buying one I'd hold off for a few months to get a good idea of just how reliable they are.

I'm past my annual freecoaster lust (Thankfully)
Just interested to see if this will actually be the next big thing or if the doubters will be correct.
There's not much else from Interbike which seems particularly progressive, just the usual new colours/fatter tyres/higher bars.
I've just watched through the winning videos from the KHE freecoaster competition.
I really enjoyed these three:
