• Ok,

This is a test the waters post to see if there'd be any interest..

I've got a 61cm Colnago master (circa 1990) in a single speed (well fixed this now) conversion. It's got a Miche Pista Advanced crankset on it, which is about three to four month's old, Campagnolo stem, Mavic rimmmed wheels (not sure exactly what rims what but will post that later today), not sure about the headset (again will post that later). . Brakes were some kind of Shimano but would most likely be best replaced since they're as old as the build..

    The Problem:

The problem is this, firstly it's got a stuck seat post and second the forks are bent, the latter being why it was taken out of use and instead I got a trek distrct on the cyclescheme which has been used since.)

So it'd be sold as a project if anything.. the condition of the frame is that it's structurally sound (as far as I can tell) but it's been repainted black and the chrome's needing done at the drop outs and the like.

The wheels are about two plus years old and the rear was rebuilt about six months before it was placed into retirement.

There's definitely potential in it but I've not got the time, energy or storage to sort it out and with my cyclescheme up for renewal I've got a grand to spend on something new which makes my life a little simpler right now.

I know there's no photos up of this yet but I'll post those on Thursday/Friday, but what I'm more wondering is a) what price would be offered for this kind of thing and b) if there'd be any interest in it.

Post in thread or via IM and I'll do my best to answer any questions.

    SOLD

Bear in mind, it's locked in a storage cupboard right now and was essentially mothballed in a bike cage for the past two years.

Like I say, photos up asap..

  • oh and move this into the components section if it's in the wrong bit!

    (It's almost a full bike! o.0 )

  • I'd be interested, pending pictures.

Does the frame have any bulges?

  • you may be able to get the seatpost out
    cut to release pressure
also a decent engineers engineers may be able to help
they secure the frame and pull

I cut mine out, with help found here!

  • Really quite interested...hit me up via pm.

Are the seat stays panto'd? Has it had the decals put on it yet?

  • OK, was meant to post this earlier but work's computer had its usual spack out...

Paintwork is basically two coats that appear to have been applied previously and chipped from use (not overly badly but still...) first coat appears to have been red, hell knows what the second was.. currently it's black gloss..

Personally, i'd strip it and repaint, unless you want it kept in the "tatty" camoflage that i'd kept it in for the two odd years I used it..

    pictures will be up tomorrow..

  • OK, images are up..

Having had a chance to look at it, it is quite well used to say the least, the paint work is definitely more chipped than I remember but I think that might be because of it being moved around and being kept in a confined space as well..

as said previously, thnis would be a project!

  • How much Pennies?

  • I'm interested.....price?
I'm looking for a winter project....

  • I think we'd all appreciate it if you put a price up, the lack of so far is noticeable. Thanks, Laurence.

  • SOLD

(apologies for delay, been busy seeing myself what it's like given that it's been locked away for 18 months plus... )

  • I'd maybe hold a steel rule against each of the tubes and check there aren't any bends or bulges given that it has probably been crashed.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it. Is it Gilco tubing? Also any idea what the chrome is like on the fork? On the stay it's difficult to tell what's eroded chrome and what's dirt.

    Cheers!

    Laurence

  • the fork is bent mind - as stated above - and it's Gilco tubing on the down tube..

Chrome on the fork is not as bad as at the chain stay and you're right, it's hard to figure dirt or wear right now....

  • rodobod is right, you need to check under the down tube near the head tube and BB for kinks and check that the top tube is straight. I went (very comically as it happens) over the bars slo-mo (about 4-5 MPH) a few months back and could not believe the damage; one wrecked 531 frame but curiosly the lovely forks were ok
    pat

  • Crimped tubes bend in a funny way since they can also twist, unlike a straight cyclinder. It's a deal maker/breaker, whether the tubes are straight or not, and don't have any bulges.

  • Just been sold...

thanks for those expressing an interest..
