If people want to jump red lights, why not just let them? Someone RLJing has never effected me in any way.

utter bollocks.
i am involved in CPC driver training, one of lorry drivers most frequent complaints is about cyclists running red lights. a lot of other motorists will make the same complaint, and it does have an effect on the way they treat and perceive cyclists.
i have also been crashed into when waiting at red lights by cyclists jumping them, and have had a few very near misses when idiots have run red lights when I am riding through a green phase
so either you are lucky or an utter idiot

It's "effected" [sic] me before. Some RLJing bellend came round a corner at speed a few weeks ago and went straight into me as I was moving straight, legitimately, on green. It also pisses off drivers who then drive into us and perform needless acts of aggression, and pisses off peds who get into their cars and drive into us and perform needless acts of aggression, and phone up the Jeremy Fucking Vine Show to bang on about how all cyclists should be off the roads, wearing helmets and licence plates at all times, and paying imaginary taxes. These all contribute to making the experience of cycling in cities that little bit more miserable than it really needs to be.

There is an idiot I see fairly often on the Jamaica Rd/Evelyn St route who makes me
consider the possibility that he has been recently banned from driving and has transfered his attitude to the way he now rides a (MTB)bike.Pedestrian crossings with pedestrians crossing - RLJing - undertaking cyclists - pavements ...Its almost like he does not want to been seen with other cyclists -
Grubby T-shirt/shorts/trainers.Hasn't been seen since before the Olympics though ...
Gulp

^ + ^^ this and this (re: bothwell & DJ)
I would rather get in smeone's way and prevent them from being bellends and in the process either make them think I'm a bellend or realise why I'm deliberately in their way. I will happily absorb the bellendous thoughts and they are welcome to remonstrate with me.

When I'm queueing at a red and others decide to scoot up the side of a bus or lorry in front I always do a slow head shake so the drivers now not all cyclists are dicks. I also block gaps in a passive aggressive way..
I do exactly this too :)

This, and ideally I'd be doing it on Bellenden Road.

I was about to post the exact same DJ, but then I realised I had social skills

Besides, every knows DJ has the social graces of a bad dose of the clap.
Doesn't mean he doesn't know more than many of us about riding safely.. -

Repped. Also, these idiots who bomb through lights aren't around to hear the understandably irate mutterings of those they nearly hit and leave in their wake.
I never know where to look, wanting to hold a sign up saying "Not all drivers are good drivers either" or "They're not a cyclist, they're a yob on a bike."

Agree with Bothwell, DJ and Missmouse.
The most common excuse for RLJ-ing I get is that it doesn't affect me or anyone else. Wish they would stop long enough to consider that it actually does, as illustrated a million times reasonably above.Might cycle about in an apologetic sandwich board that gets the point across to would-be-RLJ-ers and motorists without me having to repeat it vocally.

There are far worst issues, caused by cyclists, on the roads of London than RLJing. Can we just give it a rest now and leave law enforcement to the actual law enforcers?

You probably haven't been rammed from behind by a car while waiting at a red light.
No cyclist jumping a red light has ever affected me whilst cycling. I have been riding on the roads for over 25 years. So how does this work? We are all idiots for not having a similar experience to you?

Would you do this to a cyclist who had gone out their way to filter on the right and still jumped the light?

actually i have
It was on Chiswick High St
Lights were red so I filtered down the right and pulled into the ASL (well as much as I could fit in due to a car already encroaching it). There were two lanes (left or straight on) and I was in the straight on lane. The lights were filtered for left or straight, the left turn light went green and the car behind me just drove straight into the back of me.
Driver starts shouting and I say the police need to be called. She gets back in her car and tries to drive off with me standing in her way. She nudged me repeatedly with the car (whilst I am on the phone to the old bill). Eventually she agrees to wait for the old bill.
My favourite comment from her was it would not have happened if I had been wearing a helmet (she was hysterical and also said her son had been killed in a cycling accident this year so it was all a little dark).
What a bunch of cunts you lot are.
