Holmfirth bike polo

Jezz,
I left my phone in a friends car and can't get it back til tuesday night, Can you contact all the holmfirth crew you have numbers for and let them know its 1800hrs at upperthong weds. Also ask them to contact anyone you dont have numbers for to let them know. Hopefully that'll get around to most of the regular folk. Also someone needs to bring a stiff broom incase we go and play at sands.
Was unsuccessful with balls and shafts, but will put an order in for some balls to get posted.
All went well at the westway tourney. joint third against some stiff competition..

I've quickly made up a poster to try and get more players, if you think its a good idea I can see if we can put one up in Try Cycling Kirkburton and Wheelspin Lockwood and you guys can put them up where you thing is suitable. We can alter the text if you have any suggestions, I thought if Dave is up for it we can use his number on the poster, if not i'm happy to use mine.

cool. nice one Mat, I dont really think we should use personal numbers on posters, but I'm happy to get a payg sim to put in an old phone to carry on the text service. I'll try and get to town this week to get one and let you know the number

I can get a pay as you go sim before weds if you want. I work near town and pop in most days. Do you have an old phone to use it in? Is it locked to a network? Or do you have a preference?

02 is best as i can swap it wit my iphone sim and put any new numbers in to the polo group contact. just a thought, could you put holmfirth across the top in the same big letters as bike polo. A link to here might be useful for people too

Hi Dave & co, could you tell me how many people are playing polo in Holmfirth? Also if you have any beginners atm? Trying to do a UK player census and compile numbers of people introduced to the sport this year...

Hi Jess. We've up to 12 of us at present although we struggle to get enough each week to play 3x3, but it's been a while since we didn't manage to play. None of us played before I saw a video on YouTube and thought I'd like a go. Then after much blagging, hassling we managed to get six of us out on grass with what can only be described as rustic mallets and a normal hockey Ball. We've since moved on to hardcourt, proper mallets and a lighter rv ball. which was early this year. I'm probably the most experienced of our crew but still classed as a beginner. (played with soyopoloco at westway last weekend). If you contact Sheffield I play there regulary too so don't count me twice!!! Cheers

You been falling off again Jezz? See you when I get back, I'll pop round and pick up the headset. I'll need to build up a new bike before playing again. Lost all confidence in the old one since noticing the creased top tube!!

Gunna try and put a loaner bike together. Needing some parts. I've got an old specialized hard rock f@ f with headset,stem@bars, front brake. Gunna need to find some 26" wheels/Tyres/tubes, and bb, crankset and chain. Any donations from the northern wastelands welcome

The consensus is Thursday this week cos the weather is crap. As usual all welcome. Come and learn to play polo (or teach us even). We'll start turning up at sands from 1800hrs. See ya there.
