  • Good attacking racing today, building to be interesting.

  • It's a shame, but I haven't been able to get into this race as I did with the Olympics and TdF. And I think most of Britain was with me.

Not sure if that's because the nation's new heroes weren't really feeling it, and the apathy was contagious, or if the poor telly coverage put a dampener on it.

Like I say, a real shame, because the UK had worked itself into a cycling frenzy this summer and the ToB was a great opportunity to capitalise on that and cement it for the future.

    Meh.

  • It's not been a bad race IMO.

I'd love to see some more high profile names next year but the timing in the season means that's not likely to happen.

I hope Sky get some media training for JTL. Dull as fuck.

The fact you even mention the TOB in the same sentence as those events is progress.

Well I can't say your apathy was shown on the roads, the crowds were huge! I went out to see 2 near me and there was a great buzz, and I went with 3 non-cyclists too. Plus the racing has been excellent, and Cav has been riding his heart out, determined to enjoy in last days in the rainbow jersey. Another great win today.

I think your assessment says more about you than the race

  • What does it say about me?

  • weirdest thing. one of the places i specced today was out in nowhere forest green. we spent 10 minutes whing about what a shitty spot it was in a downhill and everything. first thing that happens is cavendish pulling up literally on top of us with a double puncture. sky car sorted him out and then both mechanics in the car proceeded to take a leak roadside. love bike racing

  • What does it say about me?

Just that if you're not enjoying it, it isn't the fault of the race. Maybe an anti-climax, it isn't the biggest race in the world but there were some excellent stages and some brilliant racing. The crowds were plentiful so I think Britain was getting into it a lot, certainly a lot more than in previous years

  • What does it say about me?

That you're sick, you have an illness, you shouldn't mix with ordinary decent human beings. That you are like a virus or a rabid dog or a Conservative MP.

  • Good to know. Cheers.

  • No mankinis in this write up. Got a picture of Ivan Basso, tho.

  • Had a nice ride out to Abinger Hammer on Sunday to watch the race go past twice, the area was very busy with lots of groups of cyclists and non-cyclists turning up to watch. Enjoyed chatting to people and then rode towards Guildford with a couple of guys from South London with aerobars and a girl on a dark blue Kona Honky-Tonk. Hello if you're on here!

That was good apart from the comment about him being the third best British rider.

I think Wiggins, Cavendish and Froome would all disagree somewhat.

  • Oh come on, Andy, surely bike racing isn't a competition?

  • An Aussie came second, of course.

    Froome is Kenyan.
