Ah ha! Guess I didn't see any tandems, but I see now that the Clacton-on-Sea ride changed to a ride to Southend.

I was heading to Southend too, with three of my work colleagues who are starting to get into longer rides - which is excellent news all round.
If I realised that I might properly know some of y'all I'd have stuck around in Southend for a beer.
