  • this bike is safe than fixed no brakes for sure.

  • So it would need to be fixed rear wheel to be safe? Fair enough, I am not familiar with this kind of bike. Having said that, even if it was fixed, if you had to stop suddenly surely you would grab the brake as well as stop peddling? So the momentum would still take you over the bars? In my view having a front brake and a free rear wheel must be a lot safer than a free front and fixed rear bike (i.e. no brakes) that I see a lot of on here.

    Live and learn!
Most of us ride fixed on the front too, with at least 3 brakes.

  • most of us who ride brakeless can stop suddenly
    snigger

  • Using an abrupt transfer of kinetic energy method.

  • In any case, it's a good price, and it's likely that whoever buys it isn't going to keep it like this anyway. And even if you don't like the bars they can be changed in a second. It's an HHSB for the older generation - a Rock n Roll Slave Bike?

Also Elliot Davies was riding in the DC6 on Sunday and wasn't too slow, this frame was owned by a National Champ and has real pedigree.

  • what a beautiful machine...shame it not in australia..1 brake is all you need

  • Not strictly true

It's true you'd stop quicker in a straight line. But that's not much use in reality (unless you cycle everywhere in straight lines). If your only braking is with the rear you can at least still steer.

  • But anyway...

How did you get a road hub between those trackends?

  • Using an abrupt transfer of kinetic energy method.

    PAFFF!!

    Nee-Naw-Nee-Naw

  • this bike is safe than fixed no brakes for sure.

I dunno, I'd sooner stay brakeless than SS with frontbrake.

  • Anyway, good bike at a great price, wish I could afford it right now!

  • But anyway...

I was pleasently surprised by the fact they fitted, albeit quite snuggly. Didn't have to do anything.

  • Not heard anything from original dibs person (V-L) and I sent them a PM this morning to contact me. I have two other people interested who have contacted me by PM.

Is there any dibs etiquet on this forum I should know about before going back to the other interested parties?

  • It's your prerogative really, but I always ignore dibs that aren't accompanied by a PM, otherwise it's just a waste of everyone's time.

  • I run one of them with a coaster brake. Tru fax.

  • Quite fancy something like this. Those bars make baby jesus cry though.

    PM incoming!

  • I'm still not convinced..... but due to popular demand....

(couldn't be bothered to switch the brake over)

  • how much for frame and forks?

  • dibs frame

  • Not braking yet as a few people interested in whole bike. All PM's replied too, but no sale yet!

  • (couldn't be bothered to switch the brake over)

    death trap ;)

in my opinion you'd only want those huge bars if you were gonna use it for tricks mostly or real lazy cruising and given the bike's competitive track pedigree i hope it goes to someone who'll push it a bit harder!

  • hope it goes to someone who'll push it a bit harder!

    Teenslain?

  • Pretty dope frame.
    Shame about the build..

Im new to the forum and fixed gear riding, but I have to say its not as deadly as that, but riding in london traffic its not far off, as a newbie to fixed and single gear cycling, I have had to start off free wheel till im fit enough to handle fixed gear riding, still awesome experience none the less, having a front brake is best if riding fixie, as you can slow the rear wheel down with your legs, (without going over the handle bars), I cant wait to swap back to fixie
