I suppose that one could request that Hongfu left the cable guides off and drilled holes there instead.

Why do you need holes?
I thought the electric cables where set up much like a hydrualic hose. Using zip tie mounts. The cheapest way of attaching a normal cable guide to a carbon frame. Is via a riveting process. So the guide and its base are one alu unit. If you drilled a small hole on the side of the guide, then filed it open. You'd basically get a hose guide, for zip-tie use, without touching the carbon. (see orange marking on excellent diagram)
