  • how awful. I don't really have words for how sad that makes me. saw their film short at LMNH I think, it's the one from that night I remember and I was thinking about it a lot over the summer, thinking about screening it at something we were doing.

There are rumours Cameron is going to make an apology to the families at PMQs today. Really hope this is true.

  • Because that wouldn't be an empty apology at all...

  • For this reason, among others, it's ridiculous that there should be an apology.

  • One of the many things I hope the release of the papers brings about is a greater understanding.

I hear so often from those who take their cues from the media saying 'it wasn't the police's fault, what could they do against the maurauding fans...etc' and other such crap.

I don't think they realise that it is in some ways 'irrelevant' that this was a foortball game, that these were football fans that without people doing their jobs properly, in this case the police, this exact thing could happen in many different situations where large crowds gather.

Crowds are crowds and they act in fairly particular ways and when fear and uncertainty kick in - one could argue as a result of poor stewardship - then this can happen 'fairly easily' for example with the Love Parade stampede.

I'm not saying this is the only element and there were any failings but the opinion persists - thanks to Kelvin McKenzie and the Murdoch press- that this was all the fault of pissed up scousers.

I hope people will be able to see the wider picture now.

  • powerful stuff from the report. S. Yorks police coverup and smearing

  • I've just watched the preview of the blasphemous film about muhammad.
I'm not surprised at the reaction, it is beyond belief how insulting it is.

  • But the thing is, a propaganda video, however absurd and offensive, made by a right wing yank and an expat Coptic Egyptian isn't a fair representation of US foreign policy.

Insulting to film makers and actors across the globe? To say it is shit is an insult to most honest shit.

  • That trailer makes no sense at all. Also why is there a tanned Paul Mccartney in a fake beard at the beginning.

  • I was curious about the video, meant to find it tonight. That's baffling. Anyone got a link to the full thing?

  • It gets odder and odder...

  • oh can we just make up news now?
