I thought JIS was just the square taper dimensions.
Was your Chorus "English" too small? or was the thread too tight.
If it was too small, the only options to try are Italian 36mm or some form of oversize (e.g. 48mm).
If it was close but just a little bit tight, the likelihood is that you have an ISO/BSA clash going on....
Although ISO & BSA are officially interchangeable they are not identical (BSA is 1.37" and ISO is 1.375") - same pitch.
I'd imagine a 'dale would be 1.37" and a campag BB 1.375"
Most sane people approach the fitting of a BB with some caution.... it may just be that you need to be brave (or alternatively get the thread chased with an ISO tap)
