the single image of the tank fire is beautiful in a horrible way, it seems detached. the full series (only 7 images) showing the moments before and after is really incredible and moving. the photographer is so close to it all.

Exactly! I was so surprised when I saw it that I thought it could have been some awesome editing trickery, but no... just an unbelievable bit of timing during an incredibly sad and violent moment.

I'd like to think they felt nothing at all - I think less can be said for their friend they've left behind
