I love the way it looked originally to be fair.......

^^ rim stickers will be coming off as soon as possible but the bar tape cost me £12 so i'm getting atleast a couple of weeks use out of it!
^ me too, but I didn't really like the way it rode, and it is slightly too small for me. I just want something i'm not too fussed about to get me to the pub and back.

cheers, i've ordered a pair of those and i think i've got hold of a rear wheel off a langster, not the best but better than that espresso wheel thats on it at the minute.

If those Michelin's are no good then i've got a set of these on mine that have a bit of puncture resistance as well ... Only £4 more expensive as well ..

Luganos' are shit for skidding you'll be through them in a day. the only gum walls that are halfway decent for it are resist nomads' (though the smallest they come in are 28c and they're bloody tricky to get in the UK) and panaracer pasela TGs'. I've been told that the soma everwears' with yellow walls aren't as brightly coloured as they seem so they can pass for gums at a distance.

I've ordered the michelin's so i'll see how I get on with them. I can put a brake on it but it means swapping to the chrome forks which i don't really want to do, I've got a gatorskin somewhere I can put on the back if one of the michelin's dies on me. I can't run anything bigger than 25c on this frame and forks.
I "won" some stronglights for this on ebay yesterday so all I'm missing is pedals and it will be up and running (I think)
I'll probably just swap the MKS's off the mash onto this and then sort something new for the mash. I also purchased some black bar tape for the mash to please the masses.

black tape on the mash now, just not happy with the saddle and pedals now.
and some progress on the other one, i wrapped the risers with the old tape off the mash just to see if i could make it work, turns out it looks really shit. really not sure what to do with the bars on this.

What a super looking steel bike! You must have nerves of steel to ride without any brakes!
-
• #17
both are looking great; I really like the new tape on the steel one... a nicer saddle (a textured leather Rolls or a black Concor?) and a rear wheel that matches the front, and it'll be awesome.

^^ or a below average IQ and a death wish
^I've been thinking about putting concor's on both bikes. And i've managed to swap a winning scratchcard (£2) for a old langster wheel that will look alot better than that crappy deep v.

I'm loving the steely, and as before i actually don't mind the tape on it. What rim is it that you're running on the front of the steel ?

The front rim is a ceramic mavic open pro.
so, its finally built up and ready for pub duties, just in time as i've now switched to clipless pedals on the MASH. I was having issues with 25c tyres and clearances, but managed after alot of fucking about to get it so it doesn't scrub anywhere.
apologies for more crap iphone pictures, I will get proper pictures of both bikes soon.
Hi Guys, I'm fairly new here but thought I might aswell get involved. The previous incarnation of this bike looked like this...
but as was always planned i've now swapped the frame out for an ali one in the shape of a mash
which has left me with this.
I'd planned to just build it into a ratty pub bike so began acquiring parts to get it up and running. after laying everything thing out i've realised that I'm still short of parts to build it up and that most of the parts I do have are absolutely shite, but mostly free so I can't really complain.
I've got some more bits and pieces around but its just a case of finding them.
Now i'm thinking i'll just get it rolling as soon as I can and slowly upgrade it for as cheap as possible and then eventually give it a nice paintjob. Who knows, i'll just see how it goes.
