  • Seen this, very cool software (for a cross geek).

    http://www.vcl.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/crossleaugerd2.html

One of the coolest things I have seen in a while :)

  • Amzblz!

  • Why has this been merged FFS!

    Hippy!

  • The old one was, and I quote, full of andyp shit, and the new one was destined to go the same way, so it makes sense to merge.

  • I don't like the title though.

I think we have advanced very far from "Anyone interested in cyclocross" back in 2009 !

I think we are ready for a dedicated thread where people discuss the upcoming races and how they got on. Perhaps something along the lines of Cyclocross Season 2012/2013.

We can still keep this thread for noobs (like me) with questions about tubeless tyre set up's, discs vs cantis etc etc.

Andyp shit will, eventually get everywhere.

  • How about:

Rename this thread: Cyclocross and SSCX races and training

Rename the £1000 cross bike thread: Cyclocross bike recommendations

    ducks

  • Thinking ahead slightly - I know UCI have banned studded / spiked tyres from CX races, but can you still use them in LXL etc?

  • Title changed to make it a bit more searchable.

Individual races (or like you say, a whole season) can have its own thread.

Is there a single CX series?

  • nice, cheers
SSCX league: not seen anything like that no.

    LFGSS SSCX league thread anyone?

Who was the guy with a blue pompino by the way? I should have said hi!

  • Nice one Hippy!

  • Anyone know of any novice singlespeed cross events coming up then? I've got the bike, just struggling to find any near by events!

  • There isn't enough interest to run seperate singlespeed events so the best you can hope for is to enter some Go Ride novice events and mix it up with people riding on gears. FWIW, one of my clubmates rode and won the novice event at Herne Hill on Wednesday evening on a singlespeed. It was his first cross race.

In terms of races, then if you're London based there are two more evening cross races on the 12th and 19th, the first at Bethlem Hospital in West Wickham and the second at Herne Hill, both of which feature a novice race.

Some of the London League races (www.londonxleague.co.uk) will also feature a Go Race for novices this season and Muddy Hell, on the 27th of October at Herne Hill, will also have a novice race.

  • nice one, thanks for the info

  • I got the events, but got no bike/skills?!

  • Thinking ahead slightly - I know UCI have banned studded / spiked tyres from CX races, but can you still use them in LXL etc?

I doubt they would knowingly let you use them but they don't check tyres, its a safety thing so you really shouldn't use them.

  • Anyone know of any novice singlespeed cross events coming up then? I've got the bike, just struggling to find any near by events!

Like andyp said, no need for gears, by the time you spend thinking about shifting, the time it takes to actually shift, you could have just accelerated to an appropriate cadence.
I have 38-18 gearing on my tricross, that's pretty much perfect I found, a lot of people say 2-1 gearing is good.
Andyp: the first novice was on SS? checking the table, he's also way up in the general ranking, that's very impressive. I was 4th btw

  • The first novice was Texas on here (although I don't think he's been active recently) and he was riding a Pompino.

I knew he'd ridden a good race as I didn't lap him and from what he said afterwards, only the top 4 did, which is bloody good going given they had a 45 second start and were doing sub 5:30 laps.

  • Anyone racing the London League round one in Deal this weekend?

  • zed

are you looking to do some cx training? i would also be interested

  • The central cross league training session last Sunday was excellent - they may run another, I'll post the details if they do.

  • Anyone racing the London League round one in Deal this weekend?

No I can't make it, but I'll be at the second week one.

  • Anyone racing the London League round one in nearly France this weekend?

    Too far away for me.

  • Yeah bit of a trek I thought. Nice bit of the country though, could have made a weekend of it I guess.

    Bethlem tonight? I'm hopeful.

  • I'm planning on racing tonight, but am losing my voice at the moment so may err on the side of caution..

  • Can't make Deal on Sunday but will be at Bethlam tonight
