A few weeks ago I was given a tip-off about a very good deal on a Belgian second-hand website. Thanks to the excellent patience and helpfulness of LFGSS' famous Rodolfo, I was able to pick it up on my way to catching the ferry home:
Looked alright in the picture, but in the flesh it's a stunnah. Lovely blue sparkle painted, Lexpres spray-painted on the down tube, and amazing decals featuring WC stripes and a train.
Ofmega Competition cranks, Ofmega hubs laced to Mavic Piste rims, 27.2mm seatpost suggesting decent tubing, and cloverleaf cutouts.
Lexpres is a bike shop in Antwerp, so I will get in touch and see if they can help me identify the bits and pieces. It also has a rider's name on it, Joeris van Rooy, who is apparently now deceased, which sadly rules out a brilliant rat-racer style reunion.
Planning a Rolls, and maybe a new drilled chrome fork or clamp-on brake, and little else. Maybe a new stem. It was going to be a beater as I got it for a beater price, but I think it deserves a trip to Herne Hill.
