Cheers for that. I was going to ask about the inner ring on a compact. It's still my road bike, so I don't think I need an incredibly low gear. It's just at the moment there is no way I can keep my spinning speed/cadence(?) at anything near the same level on a hill.
My rear is 12-27t - bought largely because of a *very *cheap online deal on a 105 one and got Evans to price match. Also I was worried about too great a max size for the rear mech.
I guess the issue is that I would then have to buy a new inner ring and rear cassette. Which is probably going to knock on +£60.... but that is cheaper than the £200 Rotors I had started to convince myself of :S
