  • Inexplicable slave fads from Japan are amazing though - one of my favouritse is the chopped-but-not-flopped hillclimber drops - giving you the worst of all possible worlds in the name of obsucre slavery.

(Apologies if this gets some youth questing for more "glossy photos of....." this image was purely to illustrate a technical point and I couldn't easily find any others!)

woah...looks more like self harming than slavery

  • ^^ Agreed Rik, that has really bugged me too.
I'm a rider who likes things to look good, but they have to be functional too, and those bars just piss me off.

Have to also agree with you Jadias, the amount of Jap bikes we see posted that are pure anti is just bizarre.
Its really not hard to make most NJS frames look good, but the Japanese (I know this is a gross generalization) seem to want them as screwed up as possible!
You see some bikes which have obviously had a lot of money thrown at them, that look hideous.

  • apologies if reeps...all kinds of racial confusion

  • ^ I like that!

I would go for a traditional front wheel, but it looks rad as hell.

  • i want to know where someone this age got the money for that thing

  • Dunno, but he needs to save his pocket money for a decent saddle before that photo's allowed in this thread

  • what is it? Saddle looks awful.

  • And what the hell happened to his hair?! Seriously, that looks shite. o_0

  • 'but daaad, i wanted the pink one!' cheer up son!

  • ^Pivotal, really?

Also too many bikes in here are lacking bar tape, its one of the things that annoys me most.

  • i want to know where someone this age got the money for that thing

manna from heaven by the looks of things. i'd also be well fucked off at the wheel builder for using silver nipples. if fact, thats probably why he's not smiling.

  • @jadias - Understand that the law is pretty strict regarding having mounted brakes in Japan, so it's hard to tell which are fixed or single-speed - what's the split like in reality?

LOADS of single-speeds that look like fixed bikes, even down to having split brake cables linked to one lever. Odd.

I see loads of bikes and think "Oh, sweet fixie br-" and then see the rider coasting...

    ask VL

  • Sorry if its been here before. I really like t1's at the mo.

  • ask VL

LOL - and that bike has no logo wheels - not that nice + he looks like a greasy fast food cashier hardly young!

  • sorry if its been here before. I really like t1's at the mo.

    fuck yeah!!

  • Those wheels look much better when the rear rim is the same depth.

Maybe like me, he got a good deal on eBay because the original owner was leaving the country :P

I save up for a a year and a half to have enough money to build one of them cheap VISP frames up with a one Spok and a decent rear wheel then I see an opportunity, sell the parts I already have and some other things.
So I had enoughoney to bid, now I am the oh so proud owner of this.

Feel like one of the luckiest 15 year olds ever, it puts a smile on my face very time I look at it still :)

is that rotor seriously oval or its just me?

  • all rotor chainrings are, aren't they?

  • I thought the same, i think its just the white bit that is oval, confusing your eyes.

Good for you mate. Thats what its all about, loving bikes, loving riding them, and having fun in the process.

  • Yeah it's round.
An oval chainring and a single speed drivetrain would surely be a terrible, terrible idea would it not?

  • i suspose you could get away with it on the track if you had a slack chain

in other news a bit of HHSB history is up for sale
