If we were to start an epetition calling for mandatory CCTV on all new commercial vehicles (taxis, HGVs, vans...) which covered the entire 360 degrees and recorded whenever the vehicle was occupied, and kept recordings for 48 hours, would we be able to get 100,000 signatures, do you think? It would also call for legislation to make driving with an inoperable camera a crime.
I feel that the onus should be shifted from cycles to drivers to prove what happened. If you could just say "registration number XXX XXXX hit me deliberately" and get the police to review the footage, we'd see dozens of convictions a month on here...
Just a thought.
