I'm not really sure about the idea of a bidding frenzy either, though in the interests of transparency I should admit that, while I have shared my reservations with the seller, I have also agreed that the price was too low and made an offer which I thought more reasonable, though I feel terrible for having done so and would neg myself if I could.
Before he posted his intentions to take the highest bid, I also said to the seller that, if those who had got in contact before me weren't interested, we could discuss price and collection then.
But I don't want to get into any funny stuff or turn the forum into Ebay-lite, and I do massively respect the fact that this isn't really the way things work here, so I will withdraw my offer and throw the bike to the howling pack if needs be.
I have been searching for a similar bike for a while and would like to garner the sympathy vote. I can also promise it will be tasteful, I'm thinking orange tyres and BMX pedals with no straps.

Thanks.
