look at top tube length, more important.

• #1103
Oh ok why is it more important the tt ? I didn4t know it was more important?
-
• #1104
Ed and I already discussed this not that long ago. if your tt is too long, there is nothing you can do to adjust it, if the tt is too short, you use a longer stem. It affects your riding position. seat tube on the other hand, doesn't really affect how you ride your bike, as long as you can still get on and off your bike freely, I think.

ok thnaks . but in the case of a charge the tt is pretty short in small so i think i'm gonna go for the small one. thnaks for your replies.

Hi i am just about to go on holiday and i am taking my charge plug with me however those generous souls at ryan air are saying that my bike and bike bag are to weigh no more than 30kilograms being a bit of a skinflint i am looking to pad out the bag with some extra perfectly legal baggage does anyone know how much a charge plug weighs as i dont have any scales on me . I look forward to comments about the plane not getting off the ground etc.

As I am fairly new to fixed gear modifications I was wondering if anyone could send some advise about speeding up and improving a charge with all original parts for not too much cash. Thanks

Do you mean speccing the bike up? I.e improving components

Mavic iO/Comete for sure.

"Fixie modding"?
Is this that film where Angelina Jolie plays a girl with a disfigurement for a name? -

Tyres.
Maybe brake pads.
That's it.
It's a cheap solid basic frame. If you want to try different contact points (bars, pedals, etc) to make it more comfortable or alter the riding style then go for it. Look on here and ebay.
I'm not trying to be harsh but it's just not the sort of frame that's worth spending money on to upgrade.
All the parts sound solid and functional. Ride it till something wears out or breaks and if you still want to keep it, then replace that part with an upgrade.
Out of interest, specifically what is it that you dislike about it right now?

Dislike? I'm just trying to mod myself a cool fixiebiek like the vellodroom people have.

• #1116
Modding - how about a 2tone tonic suit for your top tube and some sideburns for the forks?

Just put the thing on a vespa and beat it up on Brighton Beach.

Begs asking the question - can one rock a modded Charge Plug?
In all seriousness - tyres first, then just switch stuff out as you dislike it / it breaks / it doesn't fit, I started off with a Charge Plug which ended up looking like this (admittedly p. gross)

I quite like that Mecha

keep reading this thread title as nodding on a charge plug, how so many of them are ridden

Was my first fixxiebeik; killed the frame, front wheel and cranks in a crash a year or two ago. It wasn't pretty, but it fit me surprisingly well and I miss it.

I thought I'd avoided the hate when I got the plug over a langster but hey ho. Mine does very nicely for light SSCX / towpath blasting type use. Yes it's more relaxed at 71/73, but those are the same angles I used to rock back in my MTB days so it feels right at home. Stock tyres are shit but the rest of it is sold enough. It's heavy, but then you HTFU. My upgrades: OpenPro to SystemX rear wheel SPD's Specialised Carbon post (off my old bike) Risers and a 3T stem (injury forced me off the bullhorns) Lightweight inertubes Various tyres, currently 32mm Delta Cruiser front / 25mm Marathon rear Token carbon BB Andel cog & Lockring Rolls saddle Of all the changes the rear wheel was the best, the tyres the most accessible and the bars the greatest change to my riding style. All of them could move to a new frame tomorrow so hardly dead investments.

what's the maximum tyre clearance on charge plug?
-
• #1124
Put some platforms and risers on it and turn it into a trick bike, and then ride it until you grind it into a fine metal powder. It's what I did to mine

I've got 32mm on mine at the minute. The limiting factor seems to be the brake as I don't think I could get anything much bigger in. The frame would probably take 35mm without brakes.
oh no , the small has a Seat tube length of 57.it look huge
