help a mother out...

  • my mum (who lives in brighton, hence me posting it in here) gawd bless her has just got herself a cheap shopper bike for pootling about on but it's in a bit of a state and the rear brake is not working.

can anyone recommend a good place in brighton for her to get it checked over and the brake sorted that is both trustworthy (i.e. not going to pull garage type tactics of overquoting work) and reasonably priced.

I could sort it myself but I don't know when I'll next be down that way.

    cheers

  • Yeah, I like G-Whizz cycles on Brunswick Street East in Hove. Always been very fair to me in price and a nice little workshop. Good luck!

    +1
G-Whizz Is where I go nowadays

  • That is a horrid avatar Christopher. But a good choice of shop.

  • Yep +2. For that sort of job and knowing how busy the bigger shops get Gordon at G Whizz is your man.

  • You could point her in the direction of Cranks in Kemptown - they do cycle surgery sessions where she will be helped to fix her own brakes along with anything else she might need assistance with.

    All for a donation

  • Just popped one of mine into G-Whizz - they're really great people if yo mama dont wanna get her hands dirty at Cranks.

  • +1 Liam works there now, Gordon is a good guy, he'll see ya right. Although try and sell him anything and he will skin you :D

  • Liam got slightly curly hair, couple of tats? He was the dood that helped me, he's fixing my Look as we speak, seemed like a proper upstanding chap.

  • cheers guys. have been away for weekend so only just got back online. will send her to G-Whizz as she's based down by hove town hall so it's closer for her than kemptown.

  • Just another quick shout to G-Whizz for turning my Look around in about an hour, on a Saturday. Props to Liam for being awesome and not mocking my inability to adjust my own side pulls, loose cones or shifting mechanism. Hope it worked out for yo mama HatBeard.
