Hetchins was an interesting chap and worked an angle and probably did not make you go faster but who cares. You needed something to stand out in the crowd and his curly stays did just that but they are iconic just as the lugs are. some would say they look like wrought iron gates.....other see them as works of art.....We can agree to disagree but anyone who is a 'hater' has in my book gone too far....they are different and on this occasion.....vive la difference!
I believe you [Stedlocks] and others who ride Hetchins, Bates, Ephgrave, HR Morris [he was Walthamstow] et al...should get Lotto funding because you are maintaining Britain's rich and diverse industrial heritage.....That is not a wind up!
Like the other frame on offer.....another beauty.

Hi Jingle Jangle, I would be very interested in purchasing this bike. Can you PM me with what you think is a fair price and i would be happy to discuss. hopefully this will give you more flexibility when it comes to choosing your next classic bike??? I do have a very nice clean original Raleigh Clubman but it is far too big for a swap at least 62 / 63. Can do a quick sale if needed.

this was on ebay recently.
Acquired this from the original owner recently.
Have to face the fact that it is too small for me. Key dimensions are:
Seat Tube 54.5 cm ctc
Top Tube 55cm ctc
I am looking to trade this bicycle for a machine of similar quality from a top British builder - Ephgrave, Jack Taylor, Cottingham that sort of thing - no foreign shite.
I need something that is close or equal to 57cm square.
The paint on this bike has seen better days - there are quite a few touch-ups and the paint has 'crackled' in places.
Also, the groupset is a mix of Shimano bits, and not really the sort of thing you would expect on a bike of this quality. Having said that this bike was built, and bought to be ridden, and that is has been set up for.
In addition, it is a Hetchins, and the quality of the workmanship is superb. I am really disappointed this bike is too small for me, as I would love to ride it. A selection of images below - I look forward to hearing from anyone who has a similar bike that's too big for them.
Cheers.
