First thing you'll need to find is some 650c forks- those forks currently on-board don't look right one bit.
How you building? Geared speed machine or fixed?
-
• #3
I didn't think the forks were too bad..
At the moment due to funds it'll have to be fixed gear.
-
• #4
yep, 650 forks would make it look waaaay better.

http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=2393&pictureid=13726I've also found some old pedals - so I'll just clean them up a bit and change the straps and cages.

Here's all my stuff now. Spoken with Armourtex and they said my frame would be with me either tomorrow or on Friday, hopefully people will be able to help me identify it.

lovely wheels, but take the stickers off!
-
• #12
What colour you going with?
Looks like it's coming together nicely!
-
• #13
Good to see your doing it properly with the 650 fork and wheel, looking forward to it being built up.
-
• #14
Thanks, the stickers will be coming off shortly.
I went for RAL 5000 - a sort of bluey violety grey:
If I am able to identify it, I may have to spray it again and get the original decals. -

So this morning this arrived:
http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=2393&pictureid=13832It's a great paint job but a little more purple than expected.
http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=2393&pictureid=13831And this is what was on the BB: 722503 - can anyone help?
http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=2393&pictureid=13830...now, on with the build.

Headset and forks on the bike now... -
• #17
did you remove the cable guides on the top tube?
-
• #18
May I ask where you brought the Velocity wheels from and how much they were.
-
• #19
I built the wheels myself so it was just the cost of the components (so they're around £200 but I'm sure you could build similar looking ones for around £140). However whilst building them I was helped and instructed by these guys www.macvillain.com

Right, so it's up and running now..

Now to finish it off I'm going to change the stem (something more aggressive), change the bars, change the forks to get better clearance and possibly change the dropouts.
-

Looks swish.
I know it's been said before, but a 650c front end would do a world of good, tighter clearances etc and sort out the saddle position.

• #22
Cheers :). Yeah, problem is 650c forks are hard to come by, especially nice ones.
-
• #23
Thought Ric had a nice chrome pair round the back at Bike Ambulance dude? Think Joss has a nice hand-built 650 wheel for sale to boot... ;)

Right, so it's up and running now..
Nice!
I really like how it looks even with a 700c fork.

The one in BA had been cut too short..
Cheers
Hiya all,
So a while back I got this frame and forks off eBay for £155:
However, I cannot tell you what make it is because the previous paint job was really thick and covered up the number on the BB shell.
So tomorrow morning, I'll be sending this frame off to Armourtex.
Also, I have to do this fairly cheaply with stuff I find around the house but any ideas on cheap but nice components would be greatly appreciated.
